The F3 freeway (National Highway 1) is the main access route from Sydney to the Hunter - an easy 90 minute drive will bring you to Lake Macquarie and within 2 hours you can be in Newcastle CBD, Hunter Valley Wine Country or Maitland. The upper reaches of the Hunter including Barrington Tops can be accessed within 3 hours. The Pacific and New England Highways are the main routes from Queensland. The Golden Highway connects the New England Highway (between Branxton and Singleton) and Dubbo in the Central West - it is the major link from the Coast to the Central West.
 

The Bylong Valley Way www.bylongvalleyway.com.au is now fully sealed and is a very scenic route from the Blue Mountains, Souternd Higlands and the Bathurst region into the Hunter.


Car rentals & campervans: The Hunter is an ideal destination for self drive motoring holidays. The region is well served by all major car rental companies. Throughout the Hunter are dozens of well appointed camping and tourist parks.
